A hair transplant in Istanbul usually means 2 to 4 days there: consultation and hairline design on day one, the procedure under local anaesthetic (often a full day), then a check and first wash the next day. Before you travel

You send photos of your scalp (front, top, sides, back). The clinic assesses the donor area and the number of grafts possible. Ask who makes this assessment: a doctor or a coordinator?

Day 1: arrival and consultation

Airport transfer, consultation with the doctor, blood test and drawing the new hairline. This is the time to ask all your questions and agree the number of grafts.

Day 2: the procedure

Local anaesthetic, extraction of grafts from the donor area, then implantation. It usually takes 6 to 8 hours depending on the number of grafts. You are back at the hotel the same evening.

Day 3: check and first wash

The clinic checks the area and shows you how to wash your hair in the first days. You receive prescribed medication and products.

FUE, sapphire FUE or DHI?

All three remove grafts one by one (FUE). The difference is mainly in opening the channels and implanting: a sapphire blade for sapphire FUE, an implanter pen for DHI. The team’s experience and your donor area matter more than the technique. Be wary of promises of “unlimited grafts”.

After you get home

Scabs fall off in one to two weeks. It is common for transplanted hairs to shed between weeks 2 and 8 before regrowing. Growth becomes visible at about 3 to 4 months and the result can be judged at around 12 months.
