Liposuction in Turkey: 360° lipo, VASER, recovery and how long to stay

Liposuction removes stubborn fat deposits through small incisions; it shapes the body but is not a weight-loss treatment. “360° liposuction” treats the abdomen, flanks and back together. It usually takes 1–4 hours, often under general anaesthetic, and most clinics plan 5–7 days in Istanbul. Swelling takes 3–6 months to settle.

What it is

The surgeon injects a tumescent solution (saline with local anaesthetic and adrenaline), then removes fat with thin cannulas through small incisions. Results depend on skin quality: firm, elastic skin retracts well; loose skin may need a tummy tuck instead. “360°” or circumferential liposuction treats the whole waist – abdomen, flanks and lower back – for a more balanced shape.

Techniques

Tumescent liposuction

The standard technique: fat is removed manually after the tumescent solution is injected.

Power-assisted (PAL)

A vibrating cannula makes fat removal easier in fibrous areas such as the back.

VASER (ultrasound-assisted)

Ultrasound loosens fat before suction; often used for body contouring. Burns are a specific risk if poorly performed.

Laser-assisted

Laser energy melts fat; marketing often over-promises skin tightening.

360° liposuction

A treatment area, not a technique: abdomen, flanks and back in one session.

Who it suits

Usually a good candidate

  • You are close to your target weight
  • Localised fat that resists diet and exercise
  • Good skin elasticity
  • Realistic expectations about shape, not weight

Think twice / discuss first

  • You want to lose a large amount of weight
  • Very loose skin (may need a tummy tuck or lift)
  • Heart, clotting or wound-healing problems
  • Large volumes in one session – ask how much the surgeon plans to remove and why

Your stay in Istanbul, step by step

  1. Day 1Consultation, markings, blood tests.
  2. Day 2Surgery (1–4 hours); you put on a compression garment immediately. Some clinics keep you one night.
  3. Days 3–5Hotel rest, short walks; fluid leakage from the incisions is normal in the first days.
  4. Days 5–7Check-up; the surgeon clears you to fly.

Recovery timeline

  1. Week 1Bruising, swelling and soreness; compression garment day and night.
  2. Weeks 1–2Most people return to desk work.
  3. Weeks 4–6Exercise usually resumes; the garment is worn for about 6 weeks.
  4. Months 3–6Swelling settles and the final contour appears.

Risks and complications

  • Contour irregularities, dents or asymmetry
  • Seroma, bruising, prolonged swelling
  • Numbness or altered sensation
  • Infection
  • Blood clots; fat embolism (rare but serious)
  • Fluid imbalance with large volumes; burns with energy-assisted devices

This list is not exhaustive. Your surgeon should explain the risks that apply to you, in writing, before you consent.

Cost: what drives the price

The number of areas treated, the technique (tumescent, VASER), the volume removed, anaesthesia, hospital stay and compression garments drive the price. “360°” packages vary a lot in what they include – ask for the list of areas in writing.

Few Istanbul facilities publish prices for this treatment on their own website, and we only show prices that facilities publish themselves. Ask for a written, itemised quote.

Questions to ask the clinic

  • Which areas exactly are included, and how much fat do you plan to remove?
  • Which technique will you use, and why?
  • General anaesthetic or sedation? Who is the anaesthetist?
  • Is my skin elastic enough, or would a tummy tuck give a better result?
  • How long must I wear the compression garment, and is it included?

Frequently asked questions

What is 360° liposuction?

Liposuction of the abdomen, flanks and back in the same session, to reshape the whole waist. It is a treatment area, not a different technique.

How long should I stay in Turkey after liposuction?

Usually 5–7 days, until the first check-up. Larger combined procedures need longer.

Is liposuction a way to lose weight?

No. It removes localised fat to improve shape. It works best close to your ideal weight.

When will I see the final result?

Swelling settles over 3–6 months; the final contour is usually visible by around 6 months.
