Zirconia crowns in Turkey: when they are needed, visits and what to ask

A crown covers the whole tooth after it has been filed down on all sides. Zirconia crowns are strong and aesthetic, and are the right choice for heavily filled, broken or root-treated teeth – but on healthy teeth the preparation is irreversible. Expect 2–3 appointments over 5–7 days in Istanbul.

What it is

The tooth is reduced to make space, a scan or impression is taken, and a custom crown is cemented over it. Full-mouth crowns are often marketed as a “Hollywood smile”. Because more tooth is removed than for a veneer, healthy teeth can become sensitive or need root canal treatment later.

Techniques

Monolithic zirconia

Very strong; used mainly for back teeth.

Layered zirconia

Zirconia core with porcelain layer for front-tooth aesthetics.

E-max crowns

Glass-ceramic; very aesthetic for front teeth.
